Spanish champions Barcelona were handed a shocking
defeat by Alaves at the Camp Nou. Luis Enrique’s men
were beaten 1-2 in their own backyard.
The star-studded Catalan giants were humbled in an
unbelievable fashion to hand them their first defeat of
the season.
Barcelona started the game very well attacking from all
sides, but Deyverson stunned the entire Camp Nou
in 39th minute to put the visitors ahead, as Alaves took
the lead into the tunnel at the end of the first half.
With less that 90seconds into the second half,
Barcelona restored parity after Jeremy Mathieu rose
above the entire Alaves’ back-line to head home the
equalizer.
Lionel Messi was introduced into the game on the hour
mark as Denis Suarez made way for the five-time Ballon
d’Or winner.
Four minutes later, Ibai Gomez pounced on a defensive
blunder to put his side in dreamland with a beautiful
strike.
Barcelona fought so hard to get back into the game but
all chanced were fluffed.
Earlier, Real Madrid humiliated Osasuna 5-2 with
Ronaldo, Danillo, Ramos, Pepe and Modric all getting a
goal each for the Zinedine Zidane-tutored side.
Real Madrid are on top of the La Liga standings with 9
maximum points from 3 games, Sevilla are second with
7, Las Palmas are third with 6; Barcelona also with 6
points are in the fourth position.
