The acting MD/CEO, Niger Delta Development
Commission, NDDC, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari is expected to
perform the lighting ceremony for the 2016 Calabar
Carnival.
Governor Ben Ayade
While hosting Semenitari at the state Executive
Council Chambers in Calabar, the Cross River State
Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, bestowed the honour
on her.
Ayade, likened Semenitari to a symbol of how the weak can
be helped by the strong.
Ayade praised her for her intervention on the critical
Calabar-Itu Road, saying she saved Cross River State from
economic collapse as the mainstay of the economy is the
quarry business.
The quarry business had suffered a decline and begun to
lose to Ebonyi State because truckers and movers found it
impossible to pass through the road.
As a result of her contribution to the state, Prof Ayade has
chosen Semenitari to perform the lighting ceremony of this
year’s edition of the Calabar Carnival.
